What Is a Web Novel?

Web novels go back to the earliest times of humanity. Before the wheel, there was the web. And before the web, there was the Web Novel.

Okay—not exactly, but the point stands.

Despite a thriving, global community of writers and readers, web novels still don’t get the respect they deserve. Tens of thousands of people obsess over these stories. They devour chapters at midnight. They redraw characters, write fan theories, support creators—and yet mainstream platforms treat it all like noise.

There are stories here that move people. Change people. There are writers doing art in real time, one chapter at a time. And it’s about time someone started taking that seriously.

That’s why Bardic Planet exists.

Who Am I?

That’s one secret I’ll never tell…

I’m not the biggest voice in the space.

I’m not sponsored. Not credentialed. Just obsessed.

I read too much. Think too hard. Care way too deeply.

And like you, I’ve found joy in places no bestseller list ever noticed.

So I’ve decided to write about it.

I’ll talk about the stories I love, the ones that disappoint me, and the ones that nearly—but not quite—change the game. I’ll try to figure out what separates brilliance from blandness. Sometimes I’ll get it wrong. Sometimes I’ll rant. Sometimes I’ll meme…

I never said I meme well.

But mostly, I’ll try to say something real about stories that matter.

About That Title…

Yeah, I know.

This didn’t exactly answer the question “What is a web novel?”

But let’s be honest—you already know.

You wouldn’t be here otherwise.

You know the thrill of discovering a new voice. You know what it’s like to chase chapter updates. You’ve probably clicked refresh one too many times.

So maybe the better question isn’t what a web novel is.

Maybe it’s this:

What Is Bardic Planet?

It’s the campfire. The late-night scroll. The gathering place for the hopelessly obsessed.

It’s a platform built to treat web fiction as worthy—not disposable.
To review stories with care. To celebrate the craft. To be there on the ground floor of something emerging. Something inevitable.

We’ll write reviews. Editorials. Lists. Memes. Essays. We’ll dig deep, laugh hard, and maybe even fight a little in the comments.

This isn’t a churn machine. This isn’t click bait. This is for the readers who care—and the writers who give a damn.

So buckle up. Sit back.

Because we’re in it for the long haul.
